Leprous is one of those bands that needs to be seen live in order to be experienced properly. The amount of energy they put up on stage is insane and they really know how to bring up a good show with power and intensity.

The show began with the first track from their latest album, Below. Einar’s bright clean voice is also best experienced live, this guy is such a talent! After playing another hit from the latest album, «I love hope», they started to go backwards in their discography and played hits such as «From the flame» and «Foe».

Melancholic and mature

Although playing from the older gems, (and massive attack cover, «Angel»), the show consisted of songs from mainly the latest album, which includes more strings than their previous albums. Therefore, it was a very clever idea to have a full-time cellist (Raphael Weinroth-Browne) on stage, it added A LOT to their new subtle melancholic sound.

Leprous is one of those bands that needs to be seen live in order to be experienced properly.

What made this show also different than their previous shows was that Einar has been more talkative on stage, despite it pushed him «out of his comfort zone«, as he states during one of the smalltalk in between tracks.

The show ended with my favorite song from Pitfalls, «Distant bells», before they got back for encore to play 2 more songs. During «Distant Bells», there was a little accident in the middle of the song, the entire sound went off. However, seeing Einar being entirely cool with it and having it as an excuse to engage more with the audience was another proof of how mature and professional this band is.
